This design software helps you with design calculations related to heat exchanger of double pipe type. The tool provides step by step calculations and supports SI as well as FPS system of units. The interface is simple and intuitive. Most users will be able to figure out how to use it in very quick time. However, most users here mean the design engineers who need these kind of calculations, of course. The tool will let you perform thermal analysis for bare tube double pipe (hairpin) heat exchangers as also for finned tube double pipe (hairpin) heat exchangers. When doing the calculations you can choose from counter current or co-current flow arrangement and from series arrangement or series-parallel arrangements. You would be able to import properties to Hot/Cold sides of exchanger from Microsoft Excel. Exporting to Excel also is available.
This tool lets you calculate unknown cold or hot side temperatures; it also will tell you where to locate the hot/cold fluids within the heat exchanger (Inner Pipe or Outer Pipe). The utility will let you calculate the Area, Flow area, Length, Log Mean Temperature Difference, number of Hairpins, Unknown Flow rate, scale resistance (dirt factor), Equivalent Diameter, Pipe/ Annulus side Reynolds, Nusselt numbers & Prandtl Numbers. Many of the other calculations possible include duty, clean and design of overall heat transfer coefficient calculations, pipe/ annulus velocities, mass velocity calculations, number of transfer units & thermal capacity ratio calculation, clean and fouled fin efficiency calculations for finned tube heat exchanger, pressure drop calculations & entrance and exit losses, etc.
